Even with fact that it is one of the most difficult languages to learn. Apart from numerous Chinese characters, the fluctuations of voice should also be thoroughly considered, since it could entirely change the meaning of a word. If you are one of those who stumble upon the dilemma of how to learn Chinese, then this list would be a great help.

Immerse yourself in Chinese Culture- The ordeal of how to learn Chinese would be first addressed by exploring the rich history, unique practices, as well as language of China. This would often facilitate appreciation and increase motivation to learn more. Watch Chinese movies and listen to Chinese songs on your Mp3 or on your PC to subliminally familiarize the Chinese language. When you’re ready to take on the hard part of memorizing and identifying sound of each Chinese character, then it would be easier for you.

Master the basic phonetics-There is a total of 60 finite sounds in the Chinese language. This early stage of pronunciation practice would determine if you would have a good accent or you can say the characters in the right pitch and tone in the future.

Own a Rossetta Stone Chinese Language kits-These provides variations of the Chinese language that you could choose from. It has lessons suitable for both novices and those who have already learn few Chinese characters. It would be best to say the words out loud so you could correctly identify if you have learned the appropriate tone and pitch of a certain word.

Use some learning aids-The easiest way on how to learn Chinese is using mnemonic devices for Chinese characters. Although native Chinese would opt to learn Chinese characters by repeatedly writing it for 50 times, it would be retained easier with a mnemonic that could be link to a certain Chinese character. Flashcard could also be utilized by writing a Chinese on one side and its corresponding interpretation on the other side of the card. You might as well seek some assistance from a friend or a native speaker. Download mp3’s Chinese lesson and browse through free Chinese learning website.

Rehearse-If you want to quickly learn and retained the Chinese characters, its meaning as well as the corresponding tone and pitch, then mentally practice saying it anywhere and anytime. Even if you are taking lunch you could rehearse by saying “I am taking my lunch in a cafeteria” in Chinese language. This is the same socialization process used by our own culture to teach us our own language.

If someone said ““Xie4 xie4” then respond by saying “huan2 ying2!” or “welcome”. Say “zài jiàn” if you are about to part with someone, which means “goodbye”.

Through the advent of the internet people from different parts of the world could easily learn as well as enhance their Chinese speaking and writing skill without many hassles. So whether you’re a tourist visiting the famous Great Wall of China, who wants to relish their culture by learning how to speak and write their language, or a businessman who want to negotiate with the Chinese, then this is the best way to learn Chinese online and get your point across.

Mastery of Chinese pinyin-The most essential task in learning Chinese is to master the Chinese pronunciation. Pinyin is the Chinese system of pronunciation where you could basically learn the appropriate tone and pitch for a certain word. It is derived from the word “pin” which means spelling and “yin” as sound or sounds. It should be noted that pinyin is not pronounced in the conventional English manner. There are sounds which does not have an English equivalent. Pinyin is primarily based on sounds of Mandarin Chinese, thus it should be used in other variation of the Chinese language. Some may encounter difficulty in transcribing standard written Chinese since there are few set of possible syllables and possible homonyms. Elanguageschool.net caters to people who want to learn Chinese online by providing a thorough discussion regarding pinyin

Use pinyin-The next phase is used the correct pronunciation in Chinese sentences, expressions and words. You could fluently say “ Zhong1 guo2 shi4 ge4 mei3 hao3 de guo2 jia1” or translated as “China is a wonderful country”. With the mastery of pinyin you could confidently start a conversation by saying “Ni3 hao3!” or “Hi!” , followed by “Ni3 jiao4 shen2 me ming2 zi4? Or “What’s your name?” . You could also asked the profession of someone by saying “Ni3 shi4 gan4 shen2 me de?” or asked his/her age “Ni3 ji3 sui4 le?”. You would never mistakenly pronounced “ma” to mean a horse rather than a mother.

Familiarize Chinese grammar-Standard mandarin features similar grammar system along with other Chinese language varieties. It should be noted that the topic takes precedence in the sentence, for instance the sentence “in the courtyard is parked a car” or in English grammar “the car is park in the courtyard”. Preposition becomes postposition in Mandarin, thus “on the table,” is translated as “table on”. Mandarin considers the formation of adjectival phrases rather than subordination. There are a lot of Chinese grammar rules provided in www.learn-chinese-language-online.com.

To learn Chinese online you must be equipped with willingness and interest. The tasks ahead would seem exhausting without motivation. So begin to love learning Chinese!
